Its a small 3 out-of-work world

Yes, you might think I’d have more important things on my mind at the moment as I become unemployed from Monday.

(Very weird feeling, that - haven’t been out of a job since I was er, about 15, ok except when I came over from Oz and spent a few weeks travelling before I looked for work).

But my recent focus has mainly been on looking for a new, decent mobile phone that lets me do all the great stuff I keep reading about. I figure that if I want to continue working in the new media / online space, I need to brush up on my knowledge of mobile technology by using it.

Step up 3.

I sussed out the other networks but 3 seemed by far the best, and for an amazing price I got an excellent phone, unlimited internet browsing, google maps, email, RSS feeds and all sorts. I will use some of the earnings from London for Free to pay for the monthly phone contract - so basically the phone is indeed free. Like London….. for free……on 3……

Speaking of London for Free. It looks god-awful on mobiles so that’s this weekend taken care of. Might just create a mobile version of the web site and be done with it, strip down content to just include the walks details.

Oh, back to the unemployed situation, mainly for Kimberly.

Yes, after much soul searching I resigned on Friday. I tried to stick it out for as long as I could but let’s just say things didn’t quite work out.

It’s fine, it was my decision to leave and I have to say Conchango are a lovely organisation, filled with wonderful folks. I am the better for having worked there, even if only for a short time. It was a really hard decision to make, but at the end of the day I’ve got to have something each day that drives me out of bed with a passion to get going.

So this time around I’m looking for big big challenging jobs. I’ve already turned down requests for interviews with a few places - I’m in no hurry to get something and this time around it has to be right. I’m looking for a job that gives me so much work to do that I don’t look at my watch ever during the day, and that really makes me think and learn. I’ve finally recognised that my boredom threshold is very low, and my workload threshold is very high. Its only taken me 20 years……

There are a few quite good possibilities, and I have an interview on Friday for one. Something will come up.

Funnily enough, when speaking to one of the recruitment agencies today, he mentioned that he had visited London for Free last year and it saved him loads for his visit to London.

Small world - hope he puts in a good word for me with the employer for the role we discussed. Something to do with digital tv, apparently. Now there’s a challenge if ever there was one!
